All, Every, Everybody, Everything

1. Every house in the street is the same = All the houses in the street are the same.

Every — каждый

All — все

Примечание:

А) Используй every с существительными в единственном числе:

Alice has been to every country in Europe. (NOT every countries)

Every summer we have a holiday by the see.

She looks different every time I see her. — Каждый раз, когда я ее вижу, она выглядит по-другому.

Б) Используй после every глаголы в единственном числе (is/was/has и так далее):

Every house in the street is the same. (NOT Every house in the street ARE the same.)

Every country has a national flag.

2. Сравни every и all:

С every существительное и глагол используется в единственном числе, а с all — во множественном числе:

Every student in our class passed the examination.

All the studentin our class passed the examination.

Every country has a national flag.

All countries have a national flag.

Примечание:

Если после all нет артикля, то имеется в виду "вообще все", если есть определенный артикль, то имеется в виду "все из какого-то определенного количества". Как в примерах выше: "все студенты нашего класса", "все страны вообще".

3. Every и all с словами day/morning/evening/night/summer и так далее:

Every с этими словами значит: каждый день (все дни)/каждое утро/каждый вечер/каждую ночь/каждое лето.

All с этими словами значит: весь день (с начала до конца)/все утро/весь вечер/всю ночь/все лето и так далее.

How often do you read a newspaper? — Every day. — Как часто ты читаешь газету? — Каждый день.

The weather was bad yesterday. It rained all day. — Вчера была плохая погода. Весь день (напролет) шел дождь.

4. everybody (или everyone)/ everything/ everywhere

everybody/everyone — все, каждый (для людей)

everything — все, каждый (для предметов)

everywhere —везде (для мест)

С everyoneeverybodyeverything используй глагол в единственном числе:

Everybody (или everyone) needs friends.

Have you got everything you need? — У тебя есть все, что нужно?

I’ve lost my watch. I’ve looked everywhere for it. — Я потерял свои часы. Я искал их везде.
